Fender Sean Hurley Signature 1961 Precision Bass
The Fender Custom Shop has released a new signature bass, replicating Sean Hurley's 1961 Fender Precision. Hurley is a well known and sought after L.A. studio bassist who has recorded with such artists as Ringo Starr, Annie Lennox, Alanis Morissette, Robin Thicke, and John Mayer who he has also toured with. Sean's weapon of choice is his trusty, well worn 1961 Fender Precision Bass.
Hurley's favorite Precision Bass is recreated by the Custom Shop in meticulous detail. All the dimensions and measurements were recorded from his original bass and carefully applied to this faithful rendition. Hurley often uses a foam mute stuffed under the strings by the bridge to achieve a deadened sound. This leads to the most interesting feature on the bass - a specially designed Fender string mute that can be easily engaged on the fly. This is the first time such a feature as been offered on a Fender Bass.
Other features include a quatersawn maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, custom C-shaped neck with a 7.25" radius, a hand wound vintage split coil P-Bass pickup, and vintage style bridge and tuners. The bass is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer and available in faded 3-color sunburst, aged Charcoal Frost and Olympic White, all with a tortoiseshell pickguard.
